the movie is watchable as it’s the 2nd sequel at a time when sequels were churned out mainly as ‘easy’ moneymakerss. this was totally cashing in on the ’80s 3D fad/gimmick train, and it was anaglyph, which I never really liked much (but back then, we didn’t know anything different), nor did I think it was all that effective (but again, that’s all we knew.)
that being said, this was definitely one of the better anaglyph ones from the ’70s-’80s. and, more importantly, since then it has been converted to the superior digital 3D on blu-ray, and, imho, way more amped up and effective. there are pop-outs aplenty, as pop-outs were the main ‘gimmick’ employed during that period, so it was much more ‘in your face’ than the current/recent (more sophisticated?) trend of depth and 3D object orientation of the digital 3D of the early 2000s. that’s not to say there’s not any, but the pop-outs definitely take center stage. I rated the sound as average (I rarely give 5-star ratings—to me that means perfect, which hardly ever is attained. but breaking the scoring into different categories helps), as the sound wasn’t as noticeable compared to the visuals. still, a nice flick for very decent converted 3D.
